Pointing your domain at your hosting Print

To make your domain show the website you host with us, it has to point at our servers. There are two ways to do it. Most people should use the first.

Option 1 — Use our nameservers (recommended)

Change your domain's nameservers at your registrar to ours. This is a single change, after which we create and manage every DNS record your site needs — and you can still add your own records from your control panel whenever you want.

Nameserver 1ns1.hostamir.com
Nameserver 2ns2.hostamir.com

Set both, replacing any that are already there. Where to find the setting:

  • Cloudflare Registrar — your domain → Nameservers → Custom nameservers
  • Namecheap — Domain List → Manage → Nameservers → Custom DNS
  • GoDaddy — My Products → DNS → Nameservers → Change
  • BTCL (.bd domains) — log in at bdia.btcl.com.bd → your domain → Update DNS

It usually takes under an hour, though registrars can take up to 24. Once it completes, your free SSL certificate is issued automatically — you do not need to request it.

Option 2 — Keep your DNS where it is

If you would rather manage DNS yourself, or you use Cloudflare's proxy and CDN, leave your nameservers alone and create these two records instead:

TypeNameValueTTL
A@ (or blank / your domain)163.52.126.241Auto or 3600
CNAMEwwwyour domain, e.g. example.comAuto or 3600

Delete any existing A or AAAA records for @ and www first — a leftover AAAA (IPv6) record is the most common reason a site looks broken, because browsers try it before IPv4. Leave your MX and TXT records alone; they control your email.

If you use Cloudflare

Cloudflare works either way, with one thing to watch. While your domain is proxied (the orange cloud), we cannot issue your SSL certificate — the validation request reaches Cloudflare instead of us and fails. Either switch to our nameservers, or set the record to DNS only (grey cloud) until the certificate is issued.

What about email?

Shared hosting does not include mailboxes. If you use Google Workspace, Zoho Mail or another provider:

  • On our nameservers: add your provider's MX records in your control panel under DNS. We do not create them for you, so email will not work until you do.
  • On your own DNS: your existing MX records keep working — just don't delete them.

How do I check it worked?

Visit dnschecker.org and look up your domain. On our nameservers it should return 163.52.126.241.

Logging in to your control panel

Once your domain points to us and its SSL certificate is ready, your control panel is at https://yourdomain.com:8090, using your own domain name.

Before that, use https://panel.hostamir.com:8090, or click Login to Control Panel on your service page in the client area. No password needed for that one.

Common problems

  • “This site can't be reached” — DNS has not finished updating, or an old record is still in place. Check with dnschecker.org.
  • The site loads but shows a certificate warning — the certificate is issued once your domain points to us, and is retried automatically every hour. If it persists past a couple of hours, open a ticket.
  • Works without www but not with it — the www record is missing, or the certificate was issued before www pointed here. Open a ticket and we will reissue it.
  • Email stopped after switching nameservers — your MX records did not come with you. Add them under DNS in your control panel; see above.

Stuck? Open a support ticket with your domain name and we will look at it for you.
